Kenya Islands Missions Children's Camps in
Environmental EducationK.I.M. offers three day courses at its base and in the surrounding environment, teaching required subjects for Kenyan schools as a practical (hands on) and effective environmental experience for primary and/or secondary students and also teacher groups. The courses emphasize the need for each person to be a proper steward to the creation (including conservation and rehabilitation) as God has commanded in the Bible.
Each course is designed for a group of 20 students from one class with their teacher. Follow up and discipleship is made by ongoing community development projects monitored by the Mission. These projects are community based but run by the scholars who involve their parents and community leaders.
To run a three day course for 20 students, which includes catering food, accommodation and transportation, works out to USA $500 or $25 per student. We believe that the students should pay something but know for a certainty that thse impoverished people are able to pay only a fraction of this amount. Hence these camps need to be sponsored. We are appealing to churches and other groups to sponsor a school class and individuals to sponsor an individual child. We are planning to run 20 such courses each year, a total of 400 children.
If you would like to join with us by contributing to send either a student or a class of students for one 3 day course, please send your contribution to Kenya Islands Missions c/o Hendersonville Chapel, 310 Raindrop Lane, Hendersonville, TN, 37075 or just send a check made out to the Hendersonville Chapel designating it for KIM Camps, Kenya Islands Mission. Include your address. Each sponsor will receive a personal or group photo with a letter from the child or group.
